Prospects for the Private Sector

The private sector within Ebonyi State is dominated by micro and small enterprises, is growing with mining of solid minerals, farms, hotels, and quarries. Ebonyi has mineral deposits and precious metals that are not fully tapped. The rich cultural diversity, natural tourism sites and nationally recognised dance groups present opportunities for advancing creative economy.

Young Entrepreneurs and Mentoring

SALTCCIMA has over 50 young members programmed for mentoring by the Chamber. We are working hard to sustain their interest in an economy with few business options, and that is slow in development.

Partnership with the Government

The Government of Ebonyi State was well represented during the investiture of our President in 2023 and made a commitment to support the activities of the Chamber. We have also participated in many engagements between NACCIMA and foreign missions.

Frequently Asked Questions about SALTCCIMA

The rationale for the establishment of Salt City Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (SALTCCIMA) in Ebonyi State.

Why a Chamber of Commerce?
We registered the SALT CITY CHAMBER OF COMMERCE INDUSTRY, MINES AND AGRICULTURE (SALTCCIMA) as a City Chamber. Every Chamber of Commerce is a voluntary association of businesses who uses the platform for advocacy and for conducive environment for businesses to thrive. Chamber movement is worldwide and it is at the apex of all business organisations anywhere in the world.

It is non-profit and non-political organisation. Members use the platform to network among themselves; for trade missions, for ease of linkage to local and international businesses, for ease of getting visa to travel for business purposes, to belong to business councils, for ease of participation in trade fairs, for ease in accessing loans, for ease of obtaining Certificate of Origin, which is one of the documents required by the Nigeria Customs Service before one can be allowed to export anything outside Nigeria, etc. It is a place one spends his money for selfless endeavours and to enrich his reservoir of connections. One is not paid for performing tasks hence money is not made directly in NACCIMA.
Why Should anyone Join the Chamber?
Generally, membership of a City Chamber is not based on where one comes from but where your business is located, directly or indirectly. Every member is expected to be linked to a local business address within Ebonyi State. Ebonyi people with businesses outside the state may also join.

Our national body is known with the acronym, NACCIMA (meaning: Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture). Our regional body is SECCIMA (meaning South East Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture). NACCIMA has as at November 2022, 77 City, Regional, and Professional Chambers) as members. Each Chamber usually have a President, 1st Deputy President, 2nd Deputy President, Vice Presidents, Treasurer, PRO, Members, Director-General, Secretariat staff, among others.
